Who we are
THE WORLD STUDENT
CHRISTIAN FEDERATION (WSCF) is a place of meeting and dialogue for young
Christians from all different backgrounds, churches and denominations.
The WSCF is a place to come together, to share, and to grow spiritually,
emotionally and intellectually.
Founded in 1895, the WSCF is the world's oldest international student
organization. It was instrumental in forming the
World Council of Churches
in 1948. With offices in Beirut, Nairobi, Caracas, Hong Kong and Budapest, WSCF
has been from its beginnings a worldwide youth movement.
In the Middle East, WSCF has been active since the 1960s. Despite the conflict
and turmoil of the last decades, we have continued to thrive and grow in our
ministry to students in the Arab world, and have spoken out for unity, peace and justice. We assert our identity as Arab
Christians.
OUR AIMS:
Empowering Youth
We
support and empower a new generation of responsible leaders in our movements and
churches. We work for peace and justice, bearing nonviolent and prayerful
witness
Grassroots Ecumenism
Ecumenism, from the Greek word oikumene ('the whole inhabited
earth'), reminds us that the
whole Christian household is united in the body of Christ. No Christian youth
movement or group is excluded from our work
Church & Society
How can Christians continue to be active witnesses of the Gospel in the midst of
an ever-changing Arab society? How do we coexist with our Muslim neighbours? One
of our major priorities today is interfaith dialogue: a "dialogue of life"
